Why Clients Can't Find You Online (Even If You Have a Website)

You paid for a website. It looks nice. You put your services on it. So why isn't anyone finding you?

This is the most common frustration we hear from wellness professionals. They did the "right thing" — got a website — but it's not bringing in clients. The reason is almost always the same: having a website and being visible online are two completely different things.

Your website is a billboard in a forest

Imagine putting up a beautiful billboard in the middle of a forest where nobody walks. That's what most wellness websites are. They exist, but nobody can find them unless they already know the exact address.

When someone in your city searches "yoga classes near me" or "nutritionist in Singapore," Google decides which businesses to show. If your website doesn't signal to Google what you do, where you are, and why you're credible — you won't appear.

The 3 things Google actually looks at

For local wellness businesses, Google's ranking is primarily based on three factors.

First, relevance: does your website clearly state what you offer? If someone searches "prenatal yoga" and your website says "wellness services" without ever mentioning prenatal yoga specifically, Google won't make the connection. Your website needs to use the actual words your clients search for.

Second, proximity: does Google know where you are? Your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is critical here. If you don't have one, or if it's incomplete, Google has no way to show you in local searches.

Third, prominence: does Google trust you? This is largely about reviews. Businesses with more reviews and higher ratings appear first. A business with 50 reviews will almost always outrank one with 3 reviews, all else being equal.

The Google Business Profile gap

About 40% of the wellness professionals we've scanned don't have a Google Business Profile at all. Another 30% have one but it's incomplete — missing photos, hours, services, or a description.

This is the single biggest missed opportunity for local wellness businesses. Setting up and optimizing your Google Business Profile is free, takes about 30 minutes, and can dramatically change how many people find you.

Your website's silent SEO problems

Most wellness websites have technical issues that hurt their visibility without anyone realizing. Your page titles might say "Home" instead of "Prenatal Yoga Classes in Singapore." Your meta descriptions might be blank. Your headings might not include the services you offer. Your pages might load slowly on mobile.

These aren't design problems — they're visibility problems. Your website looks fine to humans, but it's invisible to Google.

What your competitors are doing differently

The wellness professional who shows up first when someone searches for your service isn't necessarily better at yoga or coaching. They just have better online visibility. Their website mentions their services by name on every page. Their Google Business Profile has 40+ reviews. They post on Instagram 4 times a week. They have a blog that answers the questions their clients actually search for.

None of this is complicated. It just needs to be done.

How to check your own visibility

Here's a quick test: open an incognito browser window and search for your service plus your city. "Health coach Singapore." "Yoga studio" plus your neighborhood. Can you find yourself in the first page of results? Can you find yourself on the Google Map?

If not, you have a visibility problem — and it's the number one reason wellness businesses plateau.

Our free Business Health Score checks all of this automatically. Enter your website URL and in 60 seconds you'll know exactly where you stand and what to fix first.
